  • It defends the implementation of wind power in the electricity matrix and, for that, it has been acting permanently and strategically, together with different institutions, to promote the competitiveness and sustainability of the national wind sector.

  • It has a permanent relationship with the main government agencies working in matters related to energy, environment and sustainability, market regulation, among other aspects. It works, for example, with Ministries and National Councils; Public Hearings and public meetings of ANEEL and is present in meetings of the executive and legislative branches.

  • It holds events for discussions and relationships and business among its associates. Examples of these events are the Business Meetings, Breakfast with Associates, Workshops on Regulation, Courses and also the largest event on wind energy in the Southern Hemisphere, Brazil Windpower. Also noteworthy is the creation of the Brazil Offshore Wind Summit.

  • It is constantly present at the main national and international events of the wind industry and the national electricity sector, with the mission of sharing information about wind power and its exponential growth trajectory in Brazil.

  • It has a transparent relationship with the press and civil society to constantly inform about news, benefits, advances and analysis in the sector.

  • Provides advisory and regulatory technical support to its associates.

International activity

At the end of 2009, the Association assumed a position on the board of the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the Global Wind Energy Council, in a side event held at the United Nations World Conference on Climate Change (COP15) in Copenhagen. As a partner institution of the Global Wind Energy Council, the Association is responsible for the communication of global information from the GWEC to Brazil, such as the report with global wind energy data. In May 2020, Elbia Gannoum, President of ABEEólica, became vice president representing associations on the GWEC Board.

In partnership with GWEC, ABEEólica organizes, since 2010, the Brazil Windpower Conference and Exhibition, the largest event in the sector in Latin America and one of the main events worldwide, dealing with of important issues, such as ways of contracting energy, business opportunities in the region, the Brazilian regulatory framework, as well as technical and environmental issues relevant to the development of the sector.
