Brazil’s national wind energy association, ABEEólica, unveiled the ABEEólica Guideline on Safety and Technical Training during this year’s Brazil Windpower event
- The Brazilian Wind Energy Association has officially launched the ABEEólica Guideline at this year’s Brazil Windpower in São Paulo.
- This milestone follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between ABEEólica and GWO in October 2024.
São Paulo, 31.10.2025 – Brazil’s national wind energy association, ABEEólica, unveiled the ABEEólica Guideline on Safety and Technical Training during this year’s Brazil Windpower event. With the Brazilian market set to install 12.5 GW of new wind capacity from 2026 – 2030, the publication of this guideline will enable employers at the local and national level to meet the demand for approximately 2000 newcomers to the industry.
This achievement is the culmination of long-term collaboration between ABEEólica GWO, which they kicked off in October 2024 when each signed an MOU to capitalise on mutual skills that would inform the development of a good practice guide for the Brazilian market.
A key step in the process that followed was the workshop earlier this year, which ABEEólica organised. The workshop drew on the insights of operations and safety professionals from leading ABEEólica member companies, alongside members of the GWO team, to review the draft guideline and conduct a comparative gap analysis between GWO training standards and Brazilian Normas Regulamentadoras (NRs), translated as Regulatory Standards.
As the third national guideline released to cover basic work safety and technical training for the wind technician, alongside its Japanese and American counterparts, the ABEEólica Guideline illustrates how collaboration between regional and national industry associations and GWO can raise the visibility of training pathways and attract the next generation of skilled technicians.
Elbia Gannoum, CEO of ABEEólica, explained:
“As the representative body for wind energy in Brazil, the publication of this guideline will enable us to direct our stakeholders to industry-endorsed training pathways outlined in bespoke jobs profiles. With Brazil’s position as the 5th largest market for onshore wind energy capacity in the world, and the rising workforce need between now and 2030, this framework will enable organisations and associations at the national level to make key workforce development decisions.”
Jakob Lau Holst, CEO of GWO, added:
“The new ABEEólica Guideline on Safety and Technical Training is now available. Employers and educators at Brazil Windpower have given it an overwhelming reception, recognising it as a powerful tool for skills recognition along the supply chain, and for guiding individuals towards the appropriate training for the job profile of a wind professional. This is a truly satisfactory outcome of a very productive mutirão (joint effort working together towards a common goal) between ABEEólica and GWO, secretariats and member contributors.”
